In-Service Training

At the Yunus Emre Turkish Culture Centers (YETCCs), a broad variety of exams are performed at the end of courses and certificate programs provided at these centers, along with various placement tests and Turkish proficiency exams that are performed for students on an application-basis. By nature, these tests and exams require very large question banks that need to be continually enriched and updated with new questions. Such question banks can be effectively developed only by experts trained in the teaching of Turkish as a foreign language, and who are experienced in the preparation of examinations in this field. By organizing in-service educational seminars and workshops that bring together academicians and Turkish instructors assigned at the TÖMERs of different universities in Turkey and at YETCCs, the Exam Center provides an environment suitable for the sharing of information.

a) In-Service Seminars and Workshops for the Question Writers of Turkish Proficiency Exams (TPEs)

The participants of these seminars and workshops at include education coordinators at the YETCCs, Turkish instructors assigned as the TÖMERs of universities cooperating with the Yunus Emre Institute for the preparation of TPEs, and academicians who work in the field of Turkish teaching as a foreign language. These seminars and workshops involve both theoretical and applied studies on subjects such as “Question Preparation Techniques” and “Assessment and Evaluation.” The first of these workshops was organized between February 4-8,2013, and was attended by a large number of participants. The workshop was considered very beneficial by both experts and instructors in the field, and plans are currently being made to organize such workshops on an annual basis.

b) In-Service Training Seminars at the YETCCs

At the YETCCs, a broad variety ofexams are performed at the end of courses and certificate programs provided at these centers, along with various placement tests and Turkish proficiency exams that are performed for students on an application-basis. In-service training seminars are periodically organized at the YETCCs to ensure that our education coordinators and Turkish instructors receive proper training regarding the application of these tests and exams.

These seminars, which are organized in coordination with the Yunus Emre Turkish Education Center (YETEC), aim to standardize the tests and exams performed at the YETCCs.
