Turkish Arts Workshops for Londra Craft Week

Yunus Emre Enstitusu - London finds its place at London Craft Week for the second time with an enriched variety of workshops ranging from Calligraphy and Illumination to Miniatures and Marbling Art.

Yunus Emre Enstitusu - London is taking part in the event for the 2nd time. In partnership with London Craft Week 2019, the Institute has organised fascinating workshops for 6 different Turkish arts suitable for all those who would like to learn, whether it be for personal or professional reasons.

London Craft Week and it’s versatile programme aim to attract a broad audience united in their appreciation of imagination, individuality, passion and skill. A curated programme of events across London allows visitors to create their own itinerary, meet the artists and gain access to exclusive exhibitions, demonstrations and workshops.

Yunus Emre Enstitusu - London offers 30 workshops of different arts including Iznik ceramic design, Islamic calligraphy, miniature, illumination, mosaic, and paper marbling from accomplished teachers that will take place at the exhibition hall of the centre.

The Islamic Calligraphy workshops were be run by Master Calligraphy Gulnaz Fatima Mahboob who was authorised and classically trained in Istanbul by the renowned Grand Master Hasan Çelebi. While the illumination workshops were mentored by Nagihan Seymour nominated by Woking Art Society and who was previously authorized by the Grand Illuminator Master Hanifi Dursun. Marbling artist Hayrettin Kozanoğlu taught classical marbling techniques. Along with ceramic artist Mustafa Caner Kurt, mosaic artist Mehmet Hakan Demirok and miniature artist Fatoş Aslanoğlu ran their workshops between 8-12 May at Yunus Emre Enstitusu - London's exhibition hall.

London Craft Week is an annual event that showcases exceptional craftsmanship through a journey-of-discovery programme featuring hidden workshops and unknown makers alongside celebrated masters, famous studios, galleries, shops and luxury brands. It is also celebrating its fifth year for 2019, from 8-12 May. This year the festival brings together over 240 established and emerging brands, their designers and galleries from around the world. Participants who join the workshops held at Yunus Emre Enstitusu will not only experience the process of creating artwork but also will be able to take their masterpieces to home at the end of the study.
